My girlfriends pet popped it's clogs today and went to hamster heaven.?

What, I would like is your wisest advice about what to do next, she%26#039;s back from short break tomorrow, and I was supposed to be looking after him.





E.g. Would you cover up it%26#039;s death by buying her another one or would you tell her the truth. It%26#039;s nearly Christmas, which only makes thing worse , if you see what I mean.


He was a chirpy little blighter and I really liked him too.

Reply:i have 6 russian dwarf hamsters and i love them all,please tell her the truth,hamsters only live for approx. 2 years so if she has had the hamster a while she will probabley be expecting it and if you told a lie you would lose her trust.

It is better to deal with her as an adult not a child and give her the news before she gets home so she can grieve on her way and get home and celebrate xmas.





If you buy a new hamster and she discovers somehow that it is not the original one, it is highlly likely she will consider you a liar, rather than someone who wanted to protect her from being sad. If you like, tell her that you can go and buy a new hamster together or a different animal like a gold fish.. this will get her quickly used to losing pets.
Reply:Tell her the truth - she will appreciate you being honest with her. Lying might seem like a good idea in the short run but deceiving her would only undermine your relationship. You%26#039;re probably more important to her than her hamster anyway.

It saw squirrels and lots of other little rodents to play with and decided it liked all of them better than you two!

Reply:You could hammer it flat, wrap it in Christmas paper and give it her as a Hamster coaster to put her cup on! After all it%26#039;s the thought that counts.
Reply:No i would not cover up the death of my hamster. I would just get on with my life. there are better things then a pet, but if you really loved hamster I would wait a month or two befro getting a new one, just to make sure if I still want one and i%26#039;m over the datn of my old hamster.

Reply:Don%26#039;t get a new one. It takes time for a Hamster to warm up to us humans. Your girlfriend will know. Hamsters have a pretty short life span so don%26#039;t feel to bad.
